Hello and welcome to Sarah Jane Art!
I am a Bath-based artist, calligrapher and stationery designer. Art in the widest sense has been a love and obsession of mine for as long as I can remember. Whether it's the act of creating art of my own, or admiring that of others, the visual image is something I cannot imagine my life without.

About my paintings
Celebrating nature and biodiversity is at the core of the work I do. This has inevitably influenced my artwork and my focus on flowers, wildlife and architectural paintings that depict nature working in harmony with man-made. I hope that my artwork, in its own small way, reminds people of how beautiful, delicate and fragile the natural world is and how important it is for us to look after it and to appreciate it. The small yet vitally important elements of the natural world are the building blocks of our whole ecosystem.
About my calligraphy
Handwriting is a wonderful, hugely undervalued skill that has the power to convey meaning beyond words.
To me, technology can never replace the human hand. The art of writing is meditative, therapeutic and emotive. Handwritten letters tell a story: the speed at which something was written the form of the letters, and the pen, ink and writing surface all add depth, memory, personality and beauty to text.
It is for these reasons that I adore calligraphy and why I am so passionate about sharing it with others. Handwriting, with paper and pen, imperfections and all, is glorious and timeless and something to be kept alive no matter how much the technology we surround ourselves with evolves.
About me
I am a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, urban designer, painter, calligrapher, illustrator, stationery designer, yogi, geographer, hiker, runner and general health and fitness fan, mental health first aider, non-meat eating, plant-based, self confessed food shoot, proud European and even prouder resident of Bath. I love flowers, colour, sunrises, smiling, exploring, spending time with those I love, and spending time alone, drinking tea, eating dark chocolate, and generally living life to the full.

Art Circle
Numerous artists in Bath work in isolation and often with limited interaction with other art practitioners. In response, the Art Circle was established to create opportunities for expanding their network, sharing their work, asking questions and getting to know more about the local art scene.
The sessions of the Art Circle are:

Free to attend. No subscriptions or joining fees.

No booking required. No need for long term commitments.

Held in a central location (in Bath).
-
After office/retail hours (for those working contract hours).
-
Sharing the latest and upcoming art events in Bath.
